Aftercare- The Mitty Way

Congrats, your nails look fabulous. But here’s the truth: even the best set needs a little TLC to stay perfect. Think of this as the care instructions for your new nails. Follow these tips and you will get the most out of your gel polish, BIAB, extensions and even your pedicure. Ignore them and do not say we didn’t warn you.

For All Nails (Gel Polish, BIAB and Extensions)

  • Cuticle oil is essential. Apply daily, or twice a day if you can. Healthy cuticles mean stronger, longer-lasting nails.

  • Wear gloves when cleaning, gardening or doing dishes. Chemicals and hot water are not nail-friendly.

  • Do not use your nails as tools. Keys, cans and sticky labels will all win against your manicure.

  • Never peel, bite or pick at your nails. This will damage your natural nails underneath. And trust us we know if you have done it. Your nails talk to us!

  • Moisturise your hands and feet regularly to keep skin soft and hydrated.

Gel Polish, BIAB and Extensions

  • All of our nail services are designed to last 3 to 4 weeks with proper care. Book your next appointment in advanced to keep your nails looking their best.

  • Remember that gel polish, while strong, is not indestructible. If you knock your nails hard, they may chip or your nails may break, so treat them gently.

  • If you notice any lifting, book a repair as soon as possible. Leaving it too long can let moisture in and cause further damage.

Extensions

  • Treat your extensions like jewellery, not tools. They are designed to look beautiful, not open cans.

  • Book infills every 3 to 4 weeks to maintain structure and appearance.

  • Avoid dishwashing without gloves, as this can loosen the product.

Pedicures

  • If you opt for normal polish, bring sandals and let your polish set fully before putting them on. Normal polish takes a few hours to fully dry even if it looks dry!

  • Moisturise your feet daily to keep heels smooth and soft.

  • Regular pedicures will help you avoid dry, cracked heels and keep your feet sandal-ready year-round. We recommend every 6-8 weeks.

The Big No-No’s

  • Do not pick, peel or bite your nails.

  • Do not delay your next appointment. Waiting too long increases the risk of breaks and lifting.

The Big Yes-Yes’s

  • Apply cuticle oil every day, or even twice a day.

  • Be gentle with your nails, specially gel polish, which can still break if knocked.

  • Book your next appointment in advanced (even if it is a removal) or repair as soon as you see lifting or damage.

  • Show off your nails and enjoy them. They are meant to be admired.

Good nails are a partnership. We do the hard part in the salon, you do the fun part at home. Together, we keep your nails beautiful, healthy and long-lasting until your next Mitty appointment.
