  • BIAB (Builder In A Bottle) is a builder gel applied on your natural nails that gives your nails structured needed for a beautiful and natural finish. It strengthens natural nails, helps them grow and gives a glossy finish. It can be applied on your own nails or used to extend your nails (called extension). A BIAB manicure typically lasts 3–4 weeks without chipping.

  • BIAB is suitable for most, specially if you have with weak, brittle or damaged nails or you want to grow your own nails. It’s also protects the nails against breaking and fills any imperfections resulting in natural looking nails.

  • When applied and removed correctly by a professional, neither gel polish nor BIAB should damage your natural nails. In fact, BIAB can help strengthen them by creating a protective layer. Damage usually occurs only if products are peeled off at home or removed incorrectly. At Mitty, we always use gentle removal methods to keep your nails healthy.

  • Mitty Gel sets last about 3-4 weeks without chipping. You’ll usually notice growth at the base of your nail after that time. With proper care, some clients get longer wear. Gel is perfect if you want a glossy, chip-resistant nails that lasts a long time and still looking like the day you got them (except the growth)

  • Gel extensions add length and strength using a gel cured under LED light. It can be done with tips (called gel extension) or without tips (called sculptured). They are thin, lightweight, and flexible with a natural look.

Unlike other systems, gel extensions are odour-free, often more comfortable to wear, and easier to remove safely.

  • A Russian manicure uses an electric file with precision bits to gently remove dead skin and clean the cuticle area. This creates an ultra-clean look and allows polish to be applied closer to the nail edge, making the manicure last longer with less visible grow-out. It must be performed by a trained technician for safety, which is why all our team are fully trained at Mitty Academy.

  • If you have enhancements from another salon, we need to remove them and starting fresh with our products. Different systems don’t always work well together and can lead to lifting.

We also would like to check the health of your natural nails to ensure that we priorities your nails health.

We do offer removals as part of our services, so you can book that along with your new set.

  • Yes, we love nail art! From simple designs to complex hand-painted looks, we can do it all. When booking, please select the “Nail Art” option or add it as an extra. You can see examples of our nail art and their level via our instagram highlight and our website

This ensures we allow enough time for your appointment. Feel free to bring inspiration photos to discuss with your technician.

  • Looking after your nails between appointments will help them last longer and stay healthier. Our top aftercare tips are:

Apply cuticle oil daily to keep your nails nourished

Wear gloves when cleaning or doing dishes

Avoid using your nails as tools (e.g. opening cans)

Don’t pick or peel at your polish or BIAB.

If you experience any issues (lifting or peeling) please contact us and we will organise a time for you to come in for a repair

If you want to remove your nails, please either book a removal service or use the tools required to remove them safely at home

    Moisturise your hands regularly

Follow these steps and your manicure will stay looking fresh and last the way it should.

  • Education is at the heart of Mitty.

All of our staff are trained through Mitty Academy, our in-house education program with a compulsory 2 weeks training for all staff regardless of their experiences.

We run weekly training sessions for the entire team, covering nail health, hygiene, BIAB, nail art, and new techniques.

We also use a skill matrix system, so every technician has a clear pathway for growth and consistency.

We also conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure our technicians are up to date with all techniques, hygiene protocols and service standards, so every client receives the highest level of care and consistency.

On top of that, we actively train and certify other nail technicians in the industry. This means when you book at Mitty, you can be confident your technician is highly skilled, supported and always learning.

  • Research on LED nail lamps and cancer risk is still inconclusive, but current evidence shows the risk is extremely low. The amount of UV exposure from an LED curing lamp is very small, far less than what your hands are exposed to during everyday activities like walking outside.

At Mitty, your safety is our priority. We use modern LED lamps designed to minimise exposure, and we also provide sun protection in the salon for clients who’d like an extra layer of care before curing. If you want additional peace of mind, you can also apply sunscreen to your hands before your appointment.

The bottom line: the science doesn’t show a clear link, and the exposure is minimal, but we offer protection so you can relax knowing your nails, and your hands, are in safe hands.
