How do I book an appointment?
Booking your appointment is easy. Simply book online through our website or give our salon a call.
While we do our best to accommodate walk-ins, we highly recommend booking ahead to secure your preferred day and time. Booking in advance also allows us to reserve enough time to give you the best possible service.
Once your appointment is confirmed, you'll receive everything you need before your visit.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, reschedule or change your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance.
When you book, we'll securely hold your credit card details. No payment is taken at the time of booking.
Our cancellation policy is:
More than 48 hours' notice: No charge
24 to 48 hours' notice: 50% of the booked service
Same day cancellation or no-show: 100% of the booked service
This helps us respect our technicians' time while giving other clients the opportunity to book.

What can I expect during my first appointment?
From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed into a clean, relaxing salon by our friendly team.
To begin your appointment, both you and your technician will wash your hands as part of our hygiene protocol.
We'll then take the time to understand your preferences, nail goals and any concerns before recommending the most suitable service.
Every tool is professionally sanitised, and any disposable items are reserved exclusively for your use.
While you relax, you're welcome to enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee. Throughout your appointment, we'll explain every step so you feel comfortable and confident.

What is BIAB?
Builder in a Bottle (BIAB) is a strengthening builder gel applied over your natural nails to create structure while maintaining a beautiful, natural appearance.
It can be worn over your natural nails or used to create extensions. Most BIAB manicures last around 3 to 4 weeks without chipping.
Who is BIAB suitable for?
BIAB is ideal for anyone wanting stronger, healthier-looking natural nails.
It's especially suitable if your nails are:
Weak
Brittle
Damaged
Prone to breaking
The builder gel adds protection while helping your natural nails grow underneath.
Will gel damage my natural nails?
No. When applied and professionally removed, gel polish and BIAB should not damage your natural nails.
In fact, BIAB creates a protective layer that can help reduce breakage.
Most nail damage occurs when products are peeled off at home or removed incorrectly. At Mitty, we always use gentle removal methods that prioritise nail health.
How long does gel polish last?
A Mitty gel manicure typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks without chipping.
Over time, you'll notice your natural nail growing from the cuticle, but with proper care your manicure should remain glossy and beautiful until your next appointment.
What are gel extensions?
Gel extensions provide additional length and strength using gel cured under an LED lamp.
They can be created using tips or sculpted directly onto the nail.
Compared to other extension systems, gel extensions are:
Lightweight
Flexible
Natural-looking
Comfortable to wear
Easier to remove safely
Odour free
What is a Russian manicure?
A Russian manicure uses specialised electric file bits to carefully remove excess cuticle and dead skin around the nail.
This creates an exceptionally clean finish and allows colour to be applied closer to the cuticle, helping your manicure look fresh for longer.
Because this technique requires precision, all Mitty technicians complete comprehensive training through Mitty Academy before performing the service.
-
Can I get an infill if I already have nails from another salon?
We remove existing enhancements before applying a fresh Mitty set.
Different products and systems don't always work well together and may increase the risk of lifting or premature wear.
Starting fresh also allows us to assess the health of your natural nails and recommend the best treatment.
You can simply add a removal service when booking your appointment.
Do you offer nail art?
Absolutely.
Whether you're after something minimal or detailed hand-painted artwork, our technicians can create a design you'll love.
When booking, simply select the Nail Art option or add it as an extra.
If you're unsure which nail art level to choose, email us at info@mitty.com.au with your inspiration photos and we'll recommend the correct booking option so enough time is allocated.
-
What aftercare do you recommend?
A few simple habits can help your manicure stay beautiful for longer.
We recommend:
Applying cuticle oil daily
Moisturising your hands regularly
Wearing gloves while cleaning
Avoiding using your nails as tools
Never picking or peeling your gel or BIAB
Booking a professional removal when you're ready for a new set
If you notice any lifting or peeling before your next appointment, contact our team so we can organise a repair.

How do you train your technicians?
Education is at the heart of everything we do.
Every technician completes our in-house Mitty Academy training, including a compulsory minimum two-week training program, regardless of previous experience.
Our education doesn't stop there.
We also provide:
Weekly team training
Nail health education
Hygiene and safety training
BIAB and advanced technique training
Nail art education
Ongoing assessments and quality audits
Individual skill progression through our internal skill matrix
Mitty also trains and certifies nail technicians across the industry, helping raise professional standards beyond our own salon.
Do LED nail lamps cause cancer?
Current research has not found a clear link between LED nail lamps and cancer.
The UV exposure produced during curing is extremely low and significantly less than the UV your hands receive during normal outdoor activities.
For additional peace of mind, we use modern LED lamps designed to minimise exposure and also provide sun protection for clients before curing. You're also welcome to apply sunscreen to your hands before your appointment.
Your comfort and safety are always our priority.
